The Problem
Alternately certified Secondary Math educators struggle with engaging student learning in the classroom. It was observed that these mathematics teachers struggled to engage students in cognitive engagement, and therefore learning. Many, but not all, of these teachers did not go through extensive education to become teachers but were alternatively certified through state subject testing.
The Solution
To solve the problem, I proposed the creation of a professional development training on research backed methods to increase cognitive engagement.
Some of the reasons e-Learning is the best solution for the problem is:
- it is flexible, easily scalable, and can be seamlessly applied to various working environments (in-person, hybrid, and remote)
- it allows learners to revisit material and work at their own pace depending n what they need
- it can be used to solve issues for current educators as well as future educators
